Speaking to Pulse Sports exclusively, Salim Waziri explained that the 2026 edition of the tournament is set to expand across five counties, featuring preliminary competitions for both men and women.

He added that they are also laying the groundwork for a long-term infrastructure initiative in partnership with their main sponsor.

Salim Waziri added that the competition has already helped identify talent that formed a new club competing in the Bungoma County League, and noted that this year’s programme will also include charitable activities aimed at supporting vulnerable households and promoting girls’ welfare during the festive season.

“Our plan this year is to cover five counties, including Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia. With qualifier matches involving 8 men's teams and 8 ladies' teams in all the counties,” Salim Waziri said.

“We also plan with our partner 1xbet to have a legacy project of building a stadium of our own, now that from the tournament we have picked 25 players who have formed the new Webuye Warriors FC, that’s plying its trade in the Bungoma County league.

Meanwhile, speaking after the match, Compel FC captain Shadrack Simiyu reflected that their victory came in a competition that has grown into one of the most influential football tournaments in the country, driven by strong fan support and a proven record of developing players who progress to top clubs locally and abroad.

He credited the success of the event to the dedication and generosity of Salim Waziri and expressed hope that ongoing support from partners would allow the tournament to keep empowering communities through social initiatives, youth development, and long-term opportunities beyond the pitch.

“Waziri 1xcup has become the biggest tournament in Kenya right now because of the number of spectators it attracts and also the talents it's managed to produce, Manzur Okwaro (Stade Reims, France), Collins Sichenje (Vojvodina FC, Serbia), Victor Opondo Shabana FC, and so many more,” he said.

He commended Salim Waziri and the entire team involved for delivering an event that raised the bar for football competitions nationwide.

“Waziri 1xcup, it doesn't get any better than this, I don't know about other people, but as for me, this tournament is the best, the organisation that comes with it, it's a benchmarking moment for every tournament organiser across the country, kudos to Salim Waziri n the team behind him,” he said.
