Revealed: How Manchester United’s Late Bid for English Midfielder Flopped
Manchester United made a late attempt to bring Conor Gallagher back to England before the transfer window shut but failed in their bid.
According to Fabrizio Romano, in the final 48 hours of the summer transfer window (Monday), the Red Devils tried to sign the Atlético Madrid midfielder on loan but were met with a negative response.
Earlier in the summer, Crystal Palace also made a similar approach, but Atlético Madrid immediately rejected that offer as well.

Last season, Gallagher featured in 20 matches across all competitions for Diego Simeone's side. He started the opening match of the new season and subsequently came on as a substitute in the following two games.
Atletico Only Wanted Permanent Sale
Spanish media reports suggest that Atlético would only consider parting ways with the Englishman for an offer in the region of 35-40 million euros.
However, United were not keen to shell out that kind of fee on the former Chelsea star and ultimatley failed in their efforts to return him to England.
Gallagher joined Atletico for a reported £34 million from Chelsea in August 2024 and has so far made 53 apperances, including three this season, scoring four goals and weighing in with six assists.
