The proposed €16 million transfer of Brighton’s Julio Enciso to Chelsea’s ownership group, BlueCo, is at risk of falling apart due to concerns over the player’s medical tests.

The 21-year-old Paraguayan midfielder was set to join Strasbourg, a BlueCo-owned club, as part of their multi-club model before eventually transferring to Chelsea.

However, reports (via Daily Mail) suggest Enciso may have failed a medical, casting doubt on the deal’s completion.

Enciso, who moved to Brighton from Libertad in 2022, has displayed flashes of brilliance in 57 appearances, scoring five goals and providing six assists.

Enciso deal collapses?

His time on the south coast has been hampered by recurring injuries, including a torn meniscus in August 2023 that sidelined him for six months and subsequent knee surgery in May, which is expected to keep him out for several more weeks.

These fitness concerns may have raised red flags for BlueCo, and discussions are reportedly ongoing to determine if the transfer can still proceed.

With only one year left on his Brighton contract, the Seagulls were open to a sale, but Enciso’s physical condition could derail the move entirely.

Meanwhile, Chelsea remain on the market for attacking additions in the final days of the window.

The Blues have reportedly reached out to Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, and are still working on deals for Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons.
