Remo Stars vs Bendel Insurance: Sky Blues battle wounded Benin Arsenal with title within sight
The 2023 NPFL Super 6 Playoffs enter the final day with so much still at stake for the clubs as the race for the title remains so tight.
One of the contenders Remo Stars have a difficult task as they face a wounded Bendel Insurance side in their final game of the competition on Sunday.
Remo Stars vs Bendel Insurance: Match brief
Remo Stars made the NPFL title race a three-horse race following an impressive outing against bottom club Sunshine Stars on day four.
Super-subs Junior Lokosa and Adams Olamilekan proved they are more than impact subs after impressing on their first starts in the competition.
Lokosa opened the scoring while Olamilekan added a second to seal a 2-0 win in the battle of the stars.
That win saw the Sky Blues join in the title race alongside Enyimba and Rivers United.
However, on the final day of the mini-league, Remo face a must-win match against deflated Bendel Insurance.
The former invincibles had their 21-game unbeaten run ended in the last match against a spirit-ed Rivers United side.
That defeat not only cost Bendel their invincibility but also ended whatever title aspirations they had to win the NPFL title.
Therefore, heading into the final game, and with a slim chance of still making it to the CAFCC via the league, Insurance still have a lot at stake to play for aside pride.
