Rivers United's free kick specialist Duru 'super excited' with Super Eagles call
Rivers United wing-back Chidiebube Duru has reacted to his invitation to the Nigeria Super Eagles squad to face Sierra Leone later this month.
Duru spoke exclusively to Pulse Sports Nigeria hours after Nigeria Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro released his list for the next International break.
The Rivers United wing-back is one of four NPFL players in the 23-man squad made public on Friday as reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria.
Duru is happy to be back in the Super Eagles
Duru and three other players have been rewarded for their impressive displays at the NPFL Super 6 Playoffs in Lagos.
Nigeria Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro has watched all 12 matches so far in the competition and named four of the players in the team set to tackle Sierra Leone in an AFCON qualifier.
The 23-year-old is joined by his clubmate, Victor Sochima, Olorunleke Ojo from Enyimba, and Divine Nwachukwu of Bendel Insurance as the players from the Super 6 called up to the Super Eagles squad.
Speaking exclusively to Pulse Sports Nigeria from the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, the talented defender is happy to be back in the Super Eagles and looking forward to making it count this time.
“I am super excited to be among the 20 teams in Nigeria Profession Football League I am lucky to be called upon to represent the country,” Duru told Pulse Sports.
“It all comes down to determination and prayers, so, I am super excited and happy that I always want hope for this kind of opportunity to represent the country.”
“It is not easy for a home-based player to represent Nigeria. It is a thing of joy and I am super excited.”
On what the latest invitation means to him and his career, the wing-back noted that it is a plus that will boost his profile.
“It is a plus because it is going to add to my profile,” he added.
Duru spoke to Pulse Sports Nigeria before the game against Bendel Insurance in the NPFL Super 6 on Friday afternoon.
He started the encounter but was forced off injured in the second half as the Pride of Rivers ended Insurance’s 21-game unbeaten run following a 2-1 win.
