Rangers Int'l: Flying Antelopes invade Abia State in stunning traditional dress for Oriental Derby
Former NPFL winners Rangers International have taken the Oriental derby to new heights after they arrived in Abia State adorned in breathtaking traditional attire.
The Flying Antelopes are in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, for a date with neighbours, Abia Warriors, in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
Rangers storm Abia in style
The Flying Antelopes look prepared for the task ahead as they dressed for the occasion ahead of the clash between two South East clubs.
Rangers’ vibrant display of culture has turned heads and ignited a fervour in anticipation of the Oriental Derby slated for Sunday evening.
The Antelopes took to their social media account to share a short video of the players led by the coach of the side, Fidelis Ilechukwu, looking sharp and vibrant in their display of culture.
Coach Ilechukwu was also spotted with one of the players engaging in the traditional handshake synonymous with the South East.
The matchday attire is the latest from the rejuvenated Enugu-based Rangers under the leadership of new boss, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku.
Pulse Sports Nigeria reported that the Antelopes were also spotted flying their matches in the NPFL in dapper suits.
The latest show from the Antelopes has sparked positive reactions from fans, who have praised the club for spicing things up.
Abia Warriors vs Rangers
The game in Umuahia is one of eight matches slated for Sunday, with sixth-placed Rangers away to Abia Warriors, who are six places below.
Both sides will be looking to outwit the other when they take to the pitch later this evening, with Rangers slight underdogs for this one.
In terms of head-to-head, Umuahia has not been a happy hunting ground for the Antelopes, who have not registered a win in their last five visits.
Ilechukwu and his boys will hope that the reactions to their arrival can spur the lads on to end that poor run as they look to mount a serious title challenge this season.
