Reports have emerged that midfielder Bruno Fernandes is "open to leaving Manchester United" following interest from several clubs.

In early June, Fernandes seriously considered an offer from Saudi club Al Hilal, which was prepared to offer him £810,000 per week over three years.

Al Hilal was also ready to pay around €115 million to United and was confident the club would accept such a bid.

Fernandes's agent, Miguel Pinho, even traveled to Saudi Arabia for negotiations with the club's officials, but a few days later, the Portuguese international rejected the transfer.

"Al Hilal were very courteous. They spoke with my agent. Then I talked to my wife. She told me to do what I want because she always supports my decisions," Fernandes said at the time.

"It would have been easy to go there. I know the Portuguese players there very well, but I want to play at the highest level and fight for titles. I can still do that, and I still want to. I have a great passion for football."

In addition to confirming talks with Al Hilal's president, Fahad bin Nafel, Fernandes also recalled a conversation with United coach Ruben Amorim.

"There was an opportunity, they called me to go there, they were waiting for me. I spoke with Amorim. He asked me not to go. Manchester United didn't want to sell me. They don't need the money. If I had wanted to leave, they would have let me," he added.

Despite his comments, new reports from the UK's Daily Mail claim that Fernandes is very much open to a new project. The move would supposedly happen at the end of the season, with Fernandes expected to continue his career in Saudi Arabia.

It is unlikely that Fernandes will leave Manchester this summer, but the situation could certainly change in the coming days. Al-Ittihad officials are reportedly preparing a "take it or leave it" offer for both Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United, which they will submit before the Saudi transfer window closes on September 10.

Al-Ittihad's offer is rumoured to completely "overshadow" the one Fernandes received from Al Hilal.
