'Oshoala has no Impact'- Barcelona star under fire again after Super Falcons draw against Ethiopia
After their heroics at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, the Nigerian Super Falcons took to the field once again.
For their encounter at Abebe Bekila Stadium, the Super Falcons were playing without their head coach, Randy Waldrum.
Super Falcons 1-1 Ethiopia
Ethiopia took the lead after just six minutes thanks to a Birkie Amare goal during a scramble in the box.
Motivated, the Ethiopians maintained their lead until the half, playing in front of their home supporters.
When Rasheedat AJibade of Atletico Madrid scored a spectacular goal outside the box in the 52nd minute, the Super Falcons had a lifeline to win the game.
With the game coming down to the wire, the Super Falcons were able to turn things around with a few big adjustments.
Asisat Oshoala of Barcelona was unable to find the back of the net and was replaced by Opeyemi Ajakaye who made her Super Falcons debut.
The first leg finished in a 1-1 stalemate, with the Ethiopians holding on for dear life ahead of a second leg in Abuja.
Nigerians say Oshoala had no impact
Oshoala is Nigeria's most decorated football player and expectations are high when she plays for the Super Falcons.
The veteran Barcelona forward missed a sitter in the first half and was unable to connect in attack.
Following 80 minutes of action, Oshoala was taken off and Nigerians were hard on her for her performance.
There was criticism for Oshoala a five-time women's footballer of the year stating she had no impact as the Super Falcons of Nigeria played a 1-1 draw with Ethiopia.
Some fans believe that Oshoala should be relegated to a substitute as she can be more of a presence then.
This is not the first time Oshoala has faced criticism this season from fans.
