NPFL Super 6: Sunshine Stars looking to cast spoilers' spell on Enyimba — Preview

The final game of the day on matchday four will see surprise qualifiers Sunshine Stars take on eight-time champions Enyimba. 

While many will see this particular encounter as an easy one for Enyimba, this could turn out to be a painful banana peel for the People’s Elephant.

Fifth-placed Sunshine Stars will dare league leaders Enyimba in the late kick off at the Mobolaji Johnson, MJ Arena in Onikan. 

Sunshine are unbeaten in two matches after starting their NPFL Playoffs with a defeat. 

However, they battle an Enyimba side that is also unbeaten having won one and drawn two of their matches so far. 

With second-placed Rivers United in action before this game, Finidi George and his Aba Millionaires will be watching that game with a keen interest hoping that both United and Bendel Insurance will drop points. 

But the Nigeria Super Eagles legend and his Enyimba team must beware of the Akure Gunners who have so far proven their potential to be spoilers.

The Stars have already stopped Insurance and Remo Stars on their stride and will be looking to add the Elephants to that list. 

Both sides will meet for the 11th time and of course, Enyimba have dominated the previous 10. 

The People’s Elephant have won six of their last 10 meetings compared to two for the Stars. 

Chukwuemeka Obioma, Enyimba: The league’s top scorer and joint-top scorer at the Playoffs with two goals remains the main man for the Elephant. 

Obioma also netted against Sunshine in a 2-0 win the last time both sides clashed. 

Achi Nnaemeka, Sunshine Stars: The central midfielder has been the heartbeat of the Akure Gunners and will have to be on top of his game again to ensure help his team get something positive from Enyimba.
