What Sodje said

Speaking to NFF TV, Sodje stressed that the quality within the team assures him of a turnaround.

“Yes, the situation doesn’t look good right now, but I’ve always believed we will qualify. With the calibre of players we have, many of whom are excelling in Europe, I am confident they will rise to the occasion,” Sodje said via Complete Sports.

Sodje further highlighted the importance of the players’ mentality and the role of the new head coach.

“They know how disastrous it would be if Nigeria fails to qualify. No player wants that stain on their name. It’s difficult, but difficulties are there to be overcome,” he added.

The Super Eagles will hope to revive their campaign when they travel to Bloemfontein for a clash against South Africa at the Free State Stadium.
