Mohamed Salah's Egypt Coach Speaks Out on Liverpool Struggles: 'I Support Him in Everything'
Egypt's head coach, Hossam Hassan, has weighed in on Mohamed Salah's recent struggles at Liverpool, expressing confidence that playing for the national team will help the star forward regain his top form.
Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield has been the subject of intense speculation following a period of apparent friction with the club and new manager Arne Slot.
The winger was reportedly furious after being left on the bench for a third consecutive game during a 3-3 draw with Leeds United in early December.
In a candid interview, Mohamed Salah voiced his frustration, suggesting he was being unfairly singled out. "I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame," he stated. "I got a lot of promises in the summer, and so far I am on the bench for three games, so I can't say they keep the promise."
The Liverpool icon, who signed a new contract last season, also hinted at a breakdown in his relationship with the management.
"I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden, we don't have any relationship. I don't know why, but it seems to me... that someone doesn't want me in the club," Salah explained, while reaffirming his deep affection for Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah’s Coach Breaks Silence on Liverpool Saga
With Mohamed Salah currently with the Egyptian squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), national team coach Hossam Hassan believes the change of scenery will be beneficial.
"Whenever Salah's performances dip with his club, he regains his strength with the national team and becomes even better, whether by contributing goals or scoring himself," Hossam Hassan told reporters. "Then he returns to his club even stronger."
Hossam Hassan downplayed the issues at Liverpool, describing them as typical occurrences in football. "I don't consider what happened to him to be a crisis. These things often happen between players and coaches," he said. "We've been in contact with him... His focus is entirely on the tournament."
The Egypt manager also praised Mohamed Salah's attitude and commitment in the national camp, predicting a successful tournament for his captain.
"Salah's morale in training is very high, as if he were just starting out with the national team, and I believe he will have a great tournament with his country," Hassan added.
"Salah is an icon and will remain so. He is one of the best players in the world, and I support him in everything he does."
