Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has thrown his future in doubt after hitting out at the club and coach Arne Slot but where could he end up if he decides to leave Anfield?

Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah dropped a bombshell on Saturday when he hit out at manager Arne Slot for dropping him to the bench while claiming he has been scapegoated.

Amid the Reds’ poor run of form, Slot has benched Salah in a bid to get a tune out of his team but the Egyptian forward has not taken it kindly and claimed that he has been “thrown under the bus” while someone “does not want him at the club.”

That outburst has brought focus on Salah’s future at Liverpool and while he signed a new two-year contract last season, it looks like he might not see it out given the January transfer window is just around the corner.

So, with speculation around Mohamed Salah’s future, where could he end up?

La Liga

Highly unlikely, but Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have tended to sign top players even in their 30s who can offer them quality and stardust in the short-term.

Barcelona’s recent signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Robert Lewandowski highlight why they could be tempted to go for Mohamed Salah.

The only problem is that Liverpool might ask a big transfer fee for their talisman which neither of the two La Liga giants would be prepared to pay.

Serie A

Mohamed Salah revived his career in Italy after his unsuccessful spell at Chelsea as he joined Fiorentina and then AS Roma, from where Liverpool signed him for £34 million in 2017.

Serie A clubs have no problems signing players in their 30s as even a 40-Year-old Luca Modric is lighting it up for AC Milan and age will not be a factor for a player who has scored 250 goals in 420 Liverpool appearances.

Inter Milan, Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus would all fall over themselves to sign Salah if he became available but the question remains whether they can afford him.

Saudi Pro League

The best possible destination for Mohamed Salah is Saudi Arabia where a number of top clubs have seen offers of up to £180 million rebuffed by Liverpool in the past.

However, it looks like the player’s outburst on Saturday will now accelerate that move to the Saudi Pro League where Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal are waiting on the wings to sign the biggest football name from the Middle East.

What is more, money will not be a problem for Saudi clubs who would not struggle to meet Liverpool’s valuation while the player would be assured one of the biggest salaries in the history of world football.
