Faith Kipyegon added more millions in her bank account following her gold medal win at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo on Tuesday.

Kipyegon made it four world titles, and three in a row in the 1,500m, at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo Japan, winning the race in a time of 3:52.15 ahead of Kenyan compatriot Dorcas Ewoi, who claimed silver in 3:54.92, as Australian Jessica Hull managed bronze.

Following the victory, Kipyegon can now look forward to a bumper harvest in Tokyo and Kenya due to the mouth-watering prize money on offer.

World Athletics have set aside massive cash rewards for athletes in Tokyo while the Kenyan government also promised medalists millions.

How Much Will Kipyegon and Ewoi Pocket?

From the World Athletics prize pool, Kipyegon is set to pocket $70,000 (Ksh9 million) which is the reward for all gold medalists while Ewoi is assured $35,000 (Ksh4.5 million) which is going to silver medalists in Tokyo.

Besides the World Athletics reward, the two are also set to pocket Ksh3 million and Ksh2 million respectively for winning gold and silver following a promise from the Kenyan government.

It means Kipyegon will take home Ksh12 million in total from both the World Athletics and Kenyan government reward while Ewoi is assured Ksh6.5 million in total.

Kipyegon will also be doubling in the 5,000m, where she is seeking to defend her title, and if she wins, she can take her total winnings from Tokyo to $140,000 (Ksh18 million) and potentially Ksh21 million.
