Messi vs Ronaldo: Reactions as pitch invaders take on football icons

Football icons Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo rose to the top of the trends on social media again.

The battle between Messi and Ronaldo is back among their fans following their latest involvement in international football.

Messi was in action for Argentina in an exhibition game in China against Australia.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, featured for Portugal in an Euro 2024 qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Lionel Messi scored the quickest goal of his national team history Thursday in Argentina's 2-0 victory over Australia in China. 

When a pitch invader hugged him after racing to the pitch, he didn't even appear to notice.

China adores Messi just as much as they do Michael Jordan, as was demonstrated when the pitch invader left with a broad smile on his face despite getting dragged away by security. 

Messi, who is 35, causes waves wherever he goes and is just as popular there as Michael Jordan is.

When the fan ran around the field, dodging security for almost a minute, the 2-0 friendly victory for Argentina was not broadcast.

During the game, there was yet another viral event that took place in the fans, but Messi did not appear to be bothered.

The pitch invader, while making his incredible run, managed to high-five Emiliano Martinez, the goalkeeper for Argentina.

During Portugal's match versus Bosnia and Herzegovina, video of a pitch invader scooping up Cristiano Ronaldo went viral.

Ronaldo played the entire 90 minutes and was unfortunate not to score in his 199th national team appearance.

The Luz Stadium was filled with ardent Ronaldo supporters, as usual, and one of them was able to meet the five-time Ballon d'Or winner by sneaking onto the field.

The Al-Nassr star was approached by the pitch invader, who bowed at his feet after avoiding security.

The individual in issue then went on to pick up Ronaldo, who knowingly allowed the man to do so.

The pitch invader rapidly fled from security before dumping Ronaldo's own famed "SIU" celebration in front of him to complete the celebration.

For years, the argument about who is better between Messi and Ronaldo has dominated social media.

After Messi led Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the comparisons subsided.

However, with both players involved in pitch invasions, the comparisons are back.
