Arsenal have reportedly registered interest in Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane and are monitoring his contract situation with the Bavarians.
The Germany international has entered the final year of this contract, and top clubs are circling like sharks. Arsenal have entered the mix and would be interested in bringing Sane back to the Premier League.
The details
According to Sky Sports Germany, the Gunners are following Sane's contract situation intently and would be ready to pounce when the opportunity arises.
The North London side are far from being the only top club monitoring the development; however, they believe they can leverage the previous relationship between Mikel Arteta and the winger.
Arteta and Sane were together at Manchester City during the same period, and the Spaniard is said to retain fondness for the winger.
Sane had a terrific spell in the Premier League. In his 135 games for Manchester City, he scored 39 goals and provided 43 assists. He reminded EPL fans of his quality last season in Bayern Munich's UCL campaign, in which he was integral in eliminating Arsenal from the competition.
The Gunners are keen; however, Sane is said to prioritise a contract renewal at Bayern Munich currently.
While the Gunners have their eyes on future opportunities in the transfer window, they are also actively operating in the present. They completed the signing of a top-rated centre-back, Riccardo Calafiori, from Bologna today and are expected to make more acquisitions before the close of the window.
