The 22-year-old striker sustained a knock over the international break and is a doubt for the Manchester City clash against Liverpool.

Although City might be without the Norwegian striker, who is the top scorer in the Premier League, Klopp suggests it is not an advantage for his team.

What Klopp said about Haaland and City

The 55-year-old was speaking in the pre-game press conference of the weekend's Premier League clash between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad, where he talked about what he expects if the Mancunians play without Haaland.

The former Dortmund coach explained that if Alvarez starts ahead of Haaland—who Pep confirmed would be a doubt tomorrow—Manchester City will not be weaker.

He said that the Argentine is a complete striker and will bring something different from Haaland to Manchester City.

Pep's side were famously without a recognised number 9 last season when they won the league, and Klopp did not fail to mention it, saying they were capable of winning matches without a striker.

Haaland’s injury

Man City face Liverpool in their first game after the break as they attempt to overtake Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title.

Haaland was called up to Norway’s squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Spain and Georgia but has been forced to withdraw from the squad after picking up an injury in training.

The 22-year-old reportedly picked up a groin injury in training and was forced to withdraw from the two matches.
