Kenyan Stars Abroad: Zak Vyner Helps Bristol City to Dominant Win Over Swansea as Otieno Features in Leicester Victory
Zak Vyner Helps Bristol City to 3–0 Win at Swansea City
Zak Vyner delivered a solid defensive display as Bristol City cruised past Swansea City to move back into the Championship play-off places.
Stationed on the left side of a back three, Vyner impressed with eight recoveries, three tackles, and by winning three of his five ground duels, anchoring a disciplined defensive unit.
Bristol City were in control from the start, taking the lead inside four minutes when Rob Dickie powered in a header from an Anis Mehmeti corner. Swansea—watched by incoming coach Vitor Matos—created chances but remained defensively vulnerable, and they were punished again after 30 minutes when Emil Riis volleyed home from another Mehmeti delivery.
Mehmeti was at the heart of everything brilliant for the hosts, and his superb turn and defence-splitting pass sent Yu Hirakawa through to slot home the third.
A first win in four lifts Gerhard Struber’s men to fourth, while managerless Swansea—led by interim coach Darren O’Dea—slip to 19th.
Otieno Features in Leicester City's 3–1 Victory at Stoke City
Silko Thomas Otieno came off the bench as Leicester claimed back-to-back Championship victories with a hard-fought win over Stoke City.
Leicester struck twice in the first half, first through Stephy Mavididi’s thunderous effort, before Patson Daka doubled the advantage with a beautifully dinked finish.
Stoke responded strongly after the break, pulling one back when Bae Jun-ho headed in following a superb save from Asmir Begovic, who had moments earlier denied Million Manhoef with a stunning reflex stop.
The Foxes had chances to restore their two-goal cushion—Daka notably missing a clear opportunity—but Begovic again came to the rescue, producing a spectacular diving save to prevent a Jun-ho equaliser. The win marks Leicester’s sixth league victory of the season.
League Two: Vincent Harper Shines as Walsall Beat Harrogate
Vincent Harper put in an energetic performance at left wing-back as Walsall returned to winning ways with a 2–0 victory over Harrogate Town.
Harper won five of seven ground duels, made two tackles, and tirelessly patrolled the left flank all afternoon.
Walsall went ahead just before halftime when Daniel Kanu weaved past challenges and slotted home his seventh goal of the season. Priestley Farquharson sealed the win in the 87th minute with a towering header from a Ryan Finnigan corner.
Harrogate struggled to threaten, managing only one shot on target, as Walsall bounced back from last week’s defeat to Colchester. The loss extends Harrogate’s dismal run to four straight home defeats.
