The Kenyan right winger joined Chelsea as an Under 10 and spent close to a decade with the Blues before he was deemed surplus to requirements.

After impressing during his trial period, Kenyan winger Silko Thomas Otieno has been snapped up by Leicester City following his release from Chelsea.

The 19-year-old had been a trialist at the Foxes since the start of the season in August and impressed, scoring two goals thus far which convinced the Leicester management to sign him up.

Otieno will now link up with the Leicester Under 21 side as he hopes to work his way up to the senior squad that currently ply their trade in the English Football League (EFL) Championship.

The versatile winger who can play on either flank but predominantly on the right or as an attacking midfielder netted against Norwich City and Burnley in the Under 21 Premier League.

The prodigy took to Instagram to announce his new move, with the club yet to officially confirm the deal for the midfielder.

“Excited for this new chapter with Leicester City,” he posted on his official Instagram account.

Otieno was part of the players released from the Chelsea Academy in the off season transfer window as part of the clear out to overhaul their squad.

The pacey winger’s transfer to Leicester was completed despite the transfer window being shut as he was a free agent following his departure from Stamford Bridge.

Back in July, the 19-year-old turned out for Sunderland again as a trialist but the move to the Black Cats failed to materalise.
