‘It doesn't seem like he's always there'- Simeone on Osimhen

Napoli striker Giovanni Simeone has praised the qualities of Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen, saying the Nigerian makes life difficult for defenders.

Osimhen has been one of the stars of the 2022/2023 European football season following a record-breaking campaign with Napoli. 

The Super Eagles star has been heads and shoulders above every player in Serie A this season after leading Napoli to their first league title in 33 years. 

Osimhen currently leads Serie A’s race for the golden boot with 25 goals in 31 matches, four more than Lautaro Martinez in second place. 

Not only that, But Osimhen’s form this season has kept Simeone and Giacomo Raspadori out of Napoli’s attack despite missing one month of action in October. 

But despite the lack his lack of game time, Simeone has nothing but praise for Osimhen, highlighting the qualities that make the Nigerian special. 

The Argentine star praised Osimhen for his ability to create something out of nothing, adding that he is spontaneous. 

"It doesn't seem like he's always there, but every time the ball comes to him he invents something. He's spontaneous, he doesn't prepare his movements, they come out of nowhere and this makes life very difficult for defenders. He knows how to find space and kick with great ease,” Simeone told Napoli Magazine. 

Osimhen and Napoli will end their Serie A campaign with a home clash against Sampdoria this weekend. 

However, the Nigerian striker’s immediate future at the Diego Armando Maradona remains unclear as he has been linked with a move to some of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer.
