Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has advised Napoli to sell their star man Victor Osimhen this summer.
Osimhen’s future is currently the subject of debate, with the Nigeria international likely to leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this summer.
Osimhen dilemma for Napoli
Osimhen is Napoli’s hero this season after leading the club to their first league title in 33 years. The Super Eagles star spearheaded Napoli’s title charge, having scored 23 goals with another five assists in 26 league games.
Osimhen has been elevated to god-level since Napoli were confirmed champions, with his face on every part of Naples.
But despite his heroics and the love he has received this year, Osimhen’s future in Naples remains uncertain.
Simeone urges Napoli to sell Osimhen
The likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for the ex-Lille man.
Napoli are adamant that Osimhen is not for sale, but Simeone has urged the club to sell if they receive a suitable offer for the 24-year-old.
The Atletico Madrid manager believes Napoli can sell Osimhen for more than €100m and use the money to reinforce just as they did with the signing of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min-Jae.
“Would I sell Osimhen? He is very strong. I think he could be worth more than €100m. I'm not saying that I would sell him, but I repeat the reasoning I have for my Atlético. If a financially powerful club comes to you and offers you double the salary, to keep a player you have to bleed yourself out and ruin your accounts. It's better to make a change. Look at Napoli, they let go of important players and look at what players like Kvaratskhelia and Kim have done,” Simeone told La Gazzetta via Atletico Madrid Universe.
It remains to bee seen, however, if Napoli will take Simeone’s advice and sell Osimhen for big money.
Osimhen still has two years left on his contract with Napoli, having joined the side from Lille for a club-record fee of €75.00m in 2020.
