Harambee Stars defensive midfielder Chris Erambo has extended a hand of gratitude to coach Benni McCarthy and the entire technical bench for handing him a call-up despite his injury struggle.

The Tusker FC midfielder has successfully returned to competitive action after a long struggle with a persistent ankle injury.

The setback originally occurred during the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and forced him to miss a significant portion of the league's first leg.

Following his recovery and return to the starting lineup, his strong performances quickly earned him a recall to the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars.

Chris Erambo on Return to Harambee Stars Squad

Speaking to Tusker FC media, Chris Erambo expressed gratitude for successfully returning to action after a lengthy period on the sidelines.

He explained that the path back to playing had been demanding and filled with obstacles, but he remained appreciative of the support and encouragement he received from fellow squad members throughout the process.

According to him, their constant encouragement helped rebuild his confidence and fitness, allowing him to gradually regain form and rhythm in matches.

He added that the team is beginning to find its stride again, and he remains optimistic that performances and results will continue improving as time goes on.

Reflecting on the setback, Erambo noted that physical setbacks are an unavoidable reality for athletes, and overcoming them requires resilience, patience, and determination.

The Harambee Stars midfielder also pointed out that the experience ultimately strengthened his resolve, as it reminded him of the level he had reached previously and pushed him to dedicate even more effort in training.

He explained that returning to the standards he had set during the previous campaign required additional commitment and hard work, which served as a powerful driving force during his rehabilitation and preparation for competition.

“I thank God for my recovery journey; it has been very long, not easy at all, but my teammates have been pushing me, and now we are just gaining momentum. Hopefully, things get better,” he said.

“Injuries are part of life’s challenges, and you just have to deal with them. It was a motivation because I knew I needed to work extra hard to get to where I was last season.

“I think we shall continue catching up with the league pace and we are in the round of 16 in the FKF Cup. I hope we shall win it but we shall keep pushing and maintaining the focus.”

Chris Erambo said that his call-up to the Harambee Stars squad for the FIFA Series was both encouraging and fulfilling after the effort he had been putting in away from the spotlight.

He explained that he had been dedicating a lot of time and effort to improving his form and ensuring he performed well whenever he had the chance to play.

The Tusker FC midfielder added that the consistent effort and commitment during training and matches had played a major role in helping him regain his place at the highest level.

According to him, earning regular game time also contributed significantly to his progress, allowing him to rebuild confidence and show his capabilities again.

“It is very motivating and rewarding because I have been working hard behind the scenes to get back to the top and get the minutes. I think that is what has helped,” he said.
