Al-Ittihad, where South African star Thembinkosi Lorch currently plays, were said to be prepared to offer Rulani Mokwena a staggering R1.4 million per month. However, the proposed move is now on hold.

Speculation about Rulani Mokwena's future intensified after MC Alger's elimination from the CAF Champions League by Mamelodi Sundowns. The Algerian club also experienced a dip in league form, raising questions about the coach's position.

Despite the slump, MC Alger has managed to maintain its position at the top of the Algerian Ligue 1 table. The team currently sits on 40 points from 18 matches, three points clear of second-placed CS Constantine, and crucially, with four games in hand.

Rulani Mokwena to Extend Stay at MC Alger

According to a report by Foot Africa, the club president, Mohamed Hakim Hadj Redjem, recently held a meeting with Rulani Mokwena, assuring the 39-year-old tactician of his full support.

The publication detailed the significant financial package offered by the Libyan club to entice the 39-year-old coach.

"Mokwena reportedly rebuffed Ittihad’s offer worth in the region of €75,000 (R1.4 million) per month in favour of seeing out the season with MCA," the report stated. It also suggested that the situation would be re-evaluated by both parties at the end of the current campaign.

Rulani Mokwena Focused on First League Title Abroad

Having already secured the Algerian Super Cup in February, Rulani Mokwena is now determined to win his first league championship outside of South Africa.

With 12 matches left to play, his MC Alger side has the potential to finish the season with 76 points if they win all their remaining fixtures, a total that would likely secure the title for the young South African manager.
