Harambee Stars Midfielder Gives Back with Heartwarming Charity Initiative Ahead of Christmas

In a heartwarming act of giving back to his roots, Harambee Stars defensive midfielder Timothy Noor Ouma hosted a charitable event on December 22, 2025, at Dagoretti Muslim Primary School in Kawangware, Nairobi.

Partnering with the Mishono Foundation, the Polish Ekstraklasa club Lech Poznań midfielder’s newly established Timothy Noor Foundation launched its inaugural community initiative, aimed at supporting local families and nurturing young football talent ahead of the festive season.

The event drew wide attention, highlighting the role of athletes in giving back to the communities that shaped them.

The event was designed to uplift the Dagoretti community, providing meals for families as an early Christmas celebration.

Local youth teams also received footballs, jerseys, and football kits, enabling aspiring players to pursue their dreams.

Timothy Ouma took the opportunity to speak to the attendees, sharing words of encouragement drawn from his own journey from the grassroots level in Kawangware to the elite European leagues.

"I grew up in this community, and I am where I am today because of these people. They have contributed to my growth in one way or the other. I have played in almost every football pitch around Kawangware and the larger Dagoretti, and for me, I am giving back to show that there is hope, especially to the younger generation," he said.

He also addressed the struggles families face, especially during festive seasons: "Coming from this humble background, I understand well how families struggle to put a meal on the table.

“Not all are fortunate enough even to have simple Christmas celebrations in their households, and therefore, this is basically why we are here. It may not be big or adequate, but for sure it can give a smile to kids and mothers in this period."

The message resonated strongly with attendees, many of whom were parents and children from the Kawangware area. The combination of meals, sports equipment, and motivational talks created a holistic approach to community support.

The event attracted notable Kenyan footballers, both local and international. Among them were fellow Harambee Stars players Rooney Onyango, a right-back currently at Norwegian club Sogndal Football, and Byrne Omondi, goalkeeper for Gor Mahia FC.

Local league players who attended included Musa Masika (Mathare United), Kelvin Etemesi (KCB FC), Erick Mulu (Bandari FC), Elly Asieche (Mathare United), Byrone Odhiambo (FC Talanta), Ian Omondi (Mathare United), Oliver Maloba (Posta Rangers), Elvis Noor (Posta Rangers), and Saad Musa Abdallah and Ezekiel Odera, former AFC Leopards midfielders.

Former midfielder Saad Musa praised Ouma’s initiative and urged other players to step up and support their communities: "Seeing Timothy organise an event of this magnitude really sends a clear message of inspiration. My call to even active players is to follow or mirror what Babu has done.

“Players should come together as brothers to help each other. We have a lot of players who are not active and in deep pain. They are usually suffering in silence because they have no shoulder to lean on when they are not in action."

Born on June 10, 2004, Timothy Ouma has quickly risen to prominence in Kenyan football. His performances for Harambee Stars and Lech Poznań, including appearances in the UEFA Conference League, have earned him recognition as one of Kenya’s brightest football talents.

The Timothy Noor Foundation was established with the mission to support youth development, education, and sports in underserved communities.

This inaugural project sets the stage for annual initiatives, aiming to reach more schools and communities across Kenya in the coming years.

“I grew up here, and I know how it feels to struggle and dream at the same time. This foundation is my way of giving back to the community that shaped me, and of encouraging young people to work hard and believe in themselves,” Timothy Ouma said.

The Mishono Foundation, a Nairobi-based organisation, focuses on rehabilitating and supporting street children through clothing, education, and empowerment programs in areas like Kawangware.

Their partnership with Ouma’s foundation ensured the event not only provided immediate relief but also inspired long-term aspirations among young people.

“This partnership exemplifies how sports can bridge communities and create opportunities,” said Anaclet Muinami, Director of the Mishono Foundation.

The success of the inaugural event has already sparked discussions about expanding similar programs to other underserved communities, ensuring that the foundation’s impact continues well beyond Kawangware.

"For me, it’s not just about giving meals or footballs. It’s about planting seeds of hope and showing young people that they can dream bigger, regardless of where they come from," Ouma said.

With the Timothy Noor Foundation now officially launched, the footballer is poised to make a lasting difference in the lives of young Kenyans, combining his professional success with a passion for community development.
