Gout Gout’s Position Under Threat as Another Australian Wonderkid Shatters 100m Record
Australia's sprinting future looks brighter than ever, with another teenage phenomenon emerging as a potential rival to Gout Gout for gold at the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
Gout Gout, who has drawn comparisons to the legendary Usain Bolt and competed at the senior World Championships in Tokyo at just 17, may soon have a domestic challenger. A 15-year-old record has fallen, signalling the arrival of a new sprint sensation, Lubenda.
Born in January 2009, Lubenda moved to Australia from the Congo with his family in 2013. He has firmly set his sights on the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane, where he will be 23. "My goal is 2032 Brisbane; I've got my eyes on that," he stated last year.

Fellow Queenslander Gout shares the same long-term ambition. Already a rising star in Australian athletics, Gout has secured a significant sponsorship deal with sportswear giant Adidas.
Gout Gout on Strides Made So Far
Reflecting on the agreement earlier this year, he told GQ, "It was crazy. The number kept getting higher and I realised how much these companies think I’m worth."
"But that sponsorship really helps you get to the next level because obviously you need the money to travel and to train," Gout explained. "Especially since I’m at school, so I don’t need to go and find a job at Maccas or whatever to put fuel in my car. It definitely helps a lot."
Gout, whose family immigrated from Sudan two decades ago, also spoke about his financial discipline and future aspirations.
"Long term, I’d like to set myself up and set my family up," he said. "I’ve saved a lot and I bought myself a new car when I got my Ps [provisional driving licence], so that’s probably the biggest purchase I’ve made so far. I haven’t gone crazy."
