According to the club’s treasurer, Gerphas Okuku, the revenue spike is largely attributed to the massive turnout of fans at the 12,000-seater venue.

Despite the high attendance, Gor Mahia’s performance on the pitch failed to match the enthusiasm off it, as Austin Odhiambo’s first-half strike was neutralized by AFC Leopards’ Brian Wanyama in the second half, ending the match in a draw and denting Gor’s title hopes.

The strong turnout at the Raila Odinga Stadium marks a shift in fortunes for Gor Mahia, who have previously struggled to draw significant gate collections.

Monday’s derby offered a much-needed financial uplift, with the atmosphere and infrastructure of the new stadium seemingly playing a pivotal role.

While the draw against AFC Leopards saw Gor Mahia lose crucial points in the FKF Premier League title race, alling further behind league leaders Kenya Police, the financial boost provides some consolation.

The club now hopes to build on the momentum from the improved matchday revenue and reinvigorate both their campaign and fan turnout in the remaining fixtures.
