Gor Mahia: Gate Collections Surge at a Crucial Time
Gor Mahia have recently been fined KSh 300,000 by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Disciplinary Committee, and the gate collections from the Ulinzi Stars match may be used to help settle this fine, easing some of the club’s financial pressures.
Gor Mahia weree fined following serious security breaches during their recent league match against Bidco United.
The fine relates to chaotic scenes that erupted during the FKF Premier League season opener on September 21 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The committee found Gor Mahia culpable for failing to maintain adequate order and security after sections of their fans reportedly forced entry into the stadium amid ticketing issues, leading to disorder and clashes with police.
In addition to the financial penalty, which must be paid within 14 days, Gor Mahia was issued a formal warning to exercise greater diligence in its crowd management for future fixtures.
Meanwhile, Ulinzi Stars ended Gor Mahia’s winning streak, which had seen them claim four successive victories.
Gor Mahia began the season with a 1-0 loss to Bidco United but quickly bounced back with a 2-0 win over Sofapaka.
They then secured a 1-0 victory against KCB, followed by a 3-0 triumph over Posta Rangers, and most recently defeated Mathare United 2-0.
