The FKF Premier League may have witnessed just five or four games so far but it looks like Gor Mahia are determined to reclaim the title.

Gor Mahia had a slow start when they began with a 1-0 loss to Bidco United but they have since steadied the ship and they are now the form team in the FKF Premier League.

K’Ogalo made a massive statement when they thrashed Posta Rangers 3-0 on Sunday, handing the mailmen their first loss, after Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo’s side had been the league leaders before last weekend’s round of matches.

That was their third straight win of the season, having also beaten Sofapaka 2-0 and KCB 1-0. Their last two wins show that K’Ogalo are ready to compete for the league as KCB and Posta had been the early season pace setters.

It sees them move to third on the log with nine points from four matches, one behind both Kakamega Homeboyz and Rangers, and what is more, the leading duo have played one game more which means the 21-time champions can move ahead if they win their game in hand.

What has been so impressive about Gor Mahia is that they look so hard to break down as in all their four matches, they are yet to concede in open play.

K’Ogalo have kept three straight clean sheets and the loss to Bidco was through a penalty which brings back memories of their recent title-winning teams.

For example, in the 2023-24 season, they won the league after conceding 20 goals, the least in the division, having kept 18 clean sheets.

Gor Mahia’s Ghanaian coach Charles Akonnor will therefore hope to see more improvements after they began to show their claws in attack after struggling to score early in the season.

With Tusker faltering and champions Police with games in hand that they need to win to catch up, added to the indifferent forms of teams like Shabana, KCB and Bandari, it is the best possible opportunity for Gor Mahia to take off and make it hard for the rest to get closer.

K’Ogalo rarely falter when they get to the top of the table and it is where their fans will hope to see them as they look to reclaim the title they had won back-to-back before Police dislodged them last term.
