During an on-stage conversation, Musa recounted a story from their teenage years, recalling how Thomas consistently outpaced her in the 60-meter dash. "I will say again, it was like that first, Freshman year… we spent almost every waking day together… and I was like, no, she’s really got something, and it’s something special," Musa shared.

In her acceptance speech, Thomas reflected on the challenges of her career. She explained that while reaching the pinnacle of her sport was difficult, staying there proved even harder. The constant need to re-establish herself at the top created immense pressure to perform at her best consistently.
Despite these pressures, Thomas delivered a stellar performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, securing three gold medals. She viewed these victories as proof of her long-term commitment to her passion, even through periods when results were not guaranteed.
