Ex-Chelsea star filmed climbing highest mountain in Germany shirtless at 2 am
A former Chelsea star has been filmed climbing to the top of the highest mountain in Germany.
Former German superstar Andre Schurrle seems to have picked up a new hobby after he recorded himself at the top of the highest mountain, the Zugspitze.
The mountain has a peak below 3000 metres above sea level which makes it a difficult one to climb.
Schurrle dares Germany’s highest mountain
The daring act was done by former Chelsea and German hero Andre Schurrle.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Schurrle took to the top of the Zugspitze at 2 am, shirtless while the temperature was below freezing.
The now-retired football star was wearing a pair of shorts, hiking boots and gloves in the incredible adventure.
Schurrle posted the video himself through his official Instagram page, with a quick statement.
“2 am, silence, completely exhausted, still 5 hours to the summit, cold, million questions in my head,” he posted alongside the video.
Schurrle’s brief at Chelsea
The 32-year-old joined the Blues from Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2013.
He went on to be a key player for the London club, playing a key role in their success during his two years stint at Stamford Bridge.
The versatile star, who also won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, helped Chelsea lift the Premier League title in the 2014/2015 season and the League Cup in 2015.
Schurrle, who last played for Spartak Moscow before hanging his boots, featured 67 times for Chelsea and scored 14 goals.
