Rashford rubbishes reports of huge contract demands

A news report made the rounds claiming the England international was holding out for a monster financial package that would put him head and shoulders above everyone in the league.

Rashford wasted no time in setting the record straight, slamming the report and branding the story as “complete nonsense”.

He took to his Twitter to shut down the rumours.

“Just before this one starts to do the rounds! It’s complete nonsense. The club and I have been respectful to one another, and that’s how it will remain.

“My focus is purely on finishing as well as possible in the league and winning trophies.”

The Man United number 10 has been in excellent form this season, enjoying his best individual season as a Red Devil, scoring 27 goals in 44 games.

His incredible form has been a catalyst for United’s improvement at all levels this season and any new deal will be a significant improvement on his current terms.

Tying him down to a long-term contract will be of utmost importance to United boss Erik ten Hag and the Old Trafford Hierarchy as clubs like PSG and Real Madrid sniff around.

However, despite the desperation to tie him down to a new contract, it is highly unlikely the club will be handing out a deal worth £500,000 (₦284m) per week.
