Shabana became the second team to record back-to-back victories this season as they beat their hosts at the Mbaraki Sports grounds to maintain their perfect start to the season and it was golden boy Michira delivering the goods once more.

After a goalless first half, where chances were few and far between, Michira popped up with the all-important goal just past the hour mark, breaking the deadlock in the 63rd minute, as Shabana broke Bandari’s resistance after a number of attempts.

The playmaker, however, left Shabana fans in a spot of bother as he soon hobbled off with an injury in what will be a worry ahead of their upcoming games.

Michira had also scored twice as Shabana started the season with a 4-2 victory over APs Bomet and Gusii Stadium last week and they have now made it six points out of six, joining Posta Rangers at the summit.

Shabana Failed to Utilise Early Chances

Peter Okidi’s men have picked up from where they left last season, when they managed a impressive fifth place finish, and there is belief in camp and among supporters that a title challenge is possible this term.

Shabana should have gone ahead earlier when Justine Omwando almost gave them a 16th-minute lead but the Bandari goalkeeper was equal to the task, while youngster Austin Odongo also saw a decent chance go begging in the first half.

After the break, Ezekiah Omuri and Keith Imbali had opportunities that were wasted before Michira came to the rescue for the Glamour Boys.

It is a confidence booster for Shabana who will hope to serve the same dose to Tusker FC on Saturday October 5.
