Benjamin Mendy: Depay frustrated after not guilty verdict

Today, rape accusations against French football player Benjamin Mendy were dropped.

Memphis Depay, a forward for the Netherlands and of Ghanaian descent, has expressed his support for the 28-year-old.

Memphis tweeted about the just-finished case in a very straightforward manner.

Seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault were brought against Mendy.

His charges of assaulting five women between October 2020 and August 2021 were withdrawn earlier this year.

Depay revealed a detailed statement about his thoughts about Mendy's not guilty verdict on his official social media platforms.

I’ve never touched on this subject because I didn’t know all the details, but I’ve spoken to him once true FaceTime while behind bars and faced him on the pitch a couple times.. I didn’t see any evil in the man.

He was exonerated today of the remaining accusations of raping a lady and making an attempt to rape a second.

Additionally, during the 2021–22 Premier League season, Mendy only participated in one league game.

Depay came out in the open to discuss Mendy's difficulties and how they impacted his career.

The support from Depay came after Paul Pogba celebrated Mendy's not-guilty verdict.

Since the rape charges, he has been inactive and will now try to resume his activities.
