BB Bread Star Explains Technique Behind Giant Killing Goal that Stunned Gor Mahia in FKF Cup
BB Bread player Denis Cheni has opened up on his strike that eliminated Gor Mahia from the FKF Cup on Sunday.
The Kayole-based team added the country’s most successful club to their list of casualties when they stunned K’Ogalo with Cheni scoring the most important goal in the 84th minute.
Cheni scored against the run of play when Reagan Chaulimu squared the ball to him and he fired past Kevin Omondi in the Gor Mahia goal to seal passage into the round of 16 for the minnows.
It was the second time the fifth-tier club were beating a giant club, having eliminated AFC Leopards from the competition in the Round of 32, before being drawn with K’Ogalo.
Cheni On Scoring Against Gor Mahia
“I was confident I would play a good game but scoring a goal was up to God. I said if he lets me score, I will take it and I thank him for it,” Cheni told SportPesa Blog.
“When we came on, we knew tactically that when we got the ball, we would go on the attack and when we get a counter, we support the teammate. It came off today which we are thankful for.”
The now famous BB Bread star has credited the goal to the entire team and also fired a warning to other to flight teams ahead of the subsequent rounds.
“The goal is not for me alone, it is for the entire team. We will go a step at a time, hoping to beat whoever we are drawn with because we have belief and we also trust in the coach,” he added.
“We give respect Gor Mahia, they have a very good team and we respect our coach for the tactical analysis.”
