League leaders Arsenal are set to host last-place Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, aiming to bounce back from a recent league setback and heap more misery on their winless opponents.

The Gunners, who saw their Premier League lead cut to just two points after a last-minute loss to Aston Villa last weekend, are heavily favoured to secure a victory.

Preview

They have already shown their resilience with a commanding 3-0 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League midweek, where stunning goals from Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli maintained their perfect European record.

History is firmly on Arsenal's side, as they have won their last eight encounters with Wolves. A win is crucial for Mikel Arteta's side to solidify their position at the summit of the table.

In stark contrast, Wolves are enduring a nightmare season. Under manager Rob Edwards, the team has collected a mere two points and currently sits at the bottom, already 13 points adrift of safety.

Having lost their last nine matches across all competitions, the Midlands club is dangerously close to matching Sheffield United's unwanted record of a 17-game winless start to a Premier League season.

Team News and Injury Updates

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remained tight-lipped about the availability of several key players, including William Saliba, Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard, and Jurrien Timber. Saliba has been out since the victory over Bayern Munich, compounding a defensive crisis with Gabriel and Cristhian Mosquera also injured. Additionally, Riccardo Calafiori is suspended for the match after picking up five yellow cards.

Declan Rice missed the midweek trip to Belgium due to illness but is expected to be fit for Saturday. Timber is recovering from a minor knock, while Trossard is nursing a calf injury. In attack, Kai Havertz and Max Dowman are sidelined, but the Gunners were boosted by the return of Gabriel Jesus against Club Brugge after a long-term absence.

For Wolves, the injury list continues to grow. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, who scored in their 4-1 defeat to Manchester United, is out for at least six weeks. He joins Daniel Bentley, Leon Chiwome, Rodrigo Gomes, and Marshall Munetsi on the sidelines.

However, Wolves will welcome back midfielder Joao Gomes from suspension, and he is expected to slot straight back into the starting eleven, with Fer Lopez likely replacing the injured Bellegarde.

Predicted lineups

Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya; White, Timber, Hincapie, Lewis-Skelly; Odegaard, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyökeres, Eze.
