Alphonce Omija Set for Swift Nairobi Return After CAF Confederation Cup Draw
Former Gor Mahia defender Alphonce Omija will be playing in Nairobi next month just weeks after leaving K’Ogalo for Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel.
This is after the Tunisian side was paired with newly-promoted Nairobi United in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday night.
It is a nightmare draw for the Kenyan club who are having their first taste of continental football after winning the FKF Cup last season.

Naibois eliminated Ugandan side NEC FC on away goals following a 3-3 draw on aggregate after the first leg had ended 2-2 in Kampala before a 1-1 draw in Nairobi on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Etoile du Sahel swept aside Sudan’s Ahly Madani 3-0 at the weekend in Sousse to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory, having lost 1-0 away the previous week.
Naibois Have Work Cut Out Against Two-time Winners
Following the draw, the Kenyan side have their work cut out after landing the 11-time Tunisian champions in the second preliminary round.
Etoile du Sahel have won the Confederation Cup twice in 2006 and 2015 and are also the 2007 CAF Champions League winners.
The matchup therefore gives Omija an opportunity to play on home soil as Etoile du Sahel will visit Nairobi for the first leg on October 17 before the return match in Tunisia on October 24.
Omija will be itching for revenge somewhat as he was part of the Gor Mahia squad that lost the FKF Cup final to Nairobi United, a win that gave the Johnson Sakaja-backed team a ticket to continental football.
The winner of the two-legged playoff will make it to the group stages of the competition where a $400,000 (Ksh51 million) reward lies in wait.
