Alexander Isak Sets Premier League Benchmark Spending £30,000 on Dobermann Amid Security Concerns
Liverpool forward Alexander Isak has reportedly spent £30,000 on a highly-trained Dobermann, making him the top Premier League footballer to splash that amount on a personal security measure.
Isak has experienced a challenging beginning at Liverpool since his £125million summer move from Newcastle, which angered Magpies fans after a protracted transfer saga.
The forward has so far scored once, against Southampton in the Carabao Cup, while struggling to reach full fitness due to a disrupted pre-season.
Alexander Isak: High-Profile Security Investment
Now, Alexander Isak has turned his attention off the pitch, investing in a Dobermann to ensure his personal safety.
This move comes just over two months after the forward was part of a Sweden squad that received death threats during a poor start to their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Following defeats in their opening two qualifiers, Sweden fell behind in their group, sparking social media abuse towards players. The Swedish FA confirmed that around 10 threatening messages were reported to the police.
FA head of security Martin Fredman explained: “We have a routine based on how we should work when we know or suspect that our social media will be burdened with comments that in various ways cross the line.
“When scanning through our own channels and some of the players', we found comments that were far over the limit. We’re proceeding with about 10 which we think are crimes. It is up to the police and prosecutors to make sure that it holds up to their preliminary investigation.”
According to the Daily Mail, Alexander Isak purchased the dog from Phoenix Dogs, who described the forward’s new pet as: “Beautiful inside and out, she encapsulates all that a Dobermann should, a truly fabulous beast.”
A social media post accompanying the announcement showcased the dog enjoying the autumn outdoors, with Alexander Isak tagged alongside a shaking hands emoji.
Footballers Taking Security Seriously
The move highlights a growing trend among footballers to invest in personal security following high-profile incidents.
Players such as Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Kyle Walker, and Jack Grealish have all taken similar precautions after experiencing break-ins or threats.
Raheem Sterling, for example, lost around £300,000 worth of jewellery and watches during a 2022 home raid, while also confronting masked intruders during another terrifying incident.
Alexander Isak: Manager Confident in the Forward’s Return
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has acknowledged that Isak will need time to regain full match fitness, but remains confident in his impact: “With Alex, it will still take a bit of time but he will end up being the player he was at Newcastle if we get him fit. I do know that 100 per cent fit Alexander Isak is a big, big, big plus for this team.”
Alexander Isak’s investment in his £30,000 guard dog underscores the growing importance of personal security for Premier League stars and positions him as one of the league’s highest-spending footballers on such measures, setting a new benchmark for off-field safety.
