AFCON 2023: President Tinubu motivates Super Eagles to beat Angola, book semi-final spot
President Bola Tinubu gave the Super Eagles a motivational speech before their pivotal Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal matchup against Angola today.
While on a private tour to France, President Tinubu spoke with the team via a video conversation that was shared on his son Seyi Tinubu's Instagram page.
This follows the Super Eagles' thrilling 2-0 triumph over Cameroon, which guaranteed them a spot in the knockout stages.
In the meantime, the National Assembly's joint sports committee primary executives and members declared their plan to take a plane to Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire to personally support the team.
Senators in Cote d'Ivoire to watch Super Eagles vs Angola
The Senate Committee on Sports' chairman, Senator Kawu Sumaila, voiced his approval of the team's performance and revealed the senators' backing.
He said, “I am happy with the Nigerian team’s performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations,”
“The principal officers of the National Assembly and the two Committees on Sports will also be in Cote d’Ivoire to watch the quarter-finals with Angola.”
The senator also touched on the persistent rumors regarding coach Jose Peseiro's future.

Across Africa and beyond, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will broadcast the 2023 AFCON, which takes place in 2024.
