Manchester City defender Manuel Obafemi Akanji says he likes to help Nigerian kids, and talks Afrobeats.

Manuel Obafemi Akanji, a Nigerian-Swiss defender for Manchester City, is making a comeback on social media.

Last season, Akanji assisted Manchester City in winning a historic treble, which included the team's first-ever Champions League, FA Cup, and third consecutive Premier League victory.

Akanji's abilities as a ball-playing center-back were put to use by Pep Guardiola. He had a brave eye for breaking the line and easily transitioning into midfield.

His fashion choices have been as forward-thinking as the words he used to describe his cooperation with Hypebeast.

He has shown unwavering form on the field since switching to sky blue.

At Manchester City's training facility, Hypebeast sat up with Akanji to talk about life in the Rainy City, what it's like to be a dressing room dripper under Guardiola, the just-released Netflix documentary "Together: Treble Winners," and other topics.

Speaking about his country of origin, he said, "In Nigeria, I like to help kids who didn't have the same luck that I had with growing up in Switzerland."

Speaking about Afrobeats, he said, "My favorite artist is Burna Boy.

"I spoke with him after the Champions League final, I love listening to Afrobeats."

Akanji was born to a Nigerian father but chose to represent Switzerland at international level.
