World 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson left fans in awe of her fashion sense when she stole the show with her pre-Met Gala outfit in New York.

American sprint queen Sha’Carri Richardson was one of the most talked about athletes at the Met Gala in New York over her outfit that elicited mixed reactions.

Richardson showed up wearing Valentino's Alessandro Michele cream and purple dress that turned heads.

However, her pre-Met Gala was even more stunning and she walked in confidently to the screams of those in attendance.

The world 100m champion wore a black velvet blazer dress, which she paired with black heeled sandals from Ferragamo made with nappa leather material, and a satin ribbon that wraps around the calf. There was also an ankle strap with a Gancio buckle which ensured a secure fit.

That went in line with the Met Gala theme of "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," with an accompanying dress code of "Tailored for You," which honored and explored the history of Black dandyism.

Richardson was returning to the Met Gala since 2021 and this time she was also serving as a Host Committee member.

"I want to represent the feminine power of Black women, and show that there is not just one particular way to be powerful and feminine at the same time," said Richardson as quoted by Sporting News.

"Working with Alessandro just felt like a team coming together; he understood that I am a powerful Black woman and that I want to push norms, and he definitely wanted to do the same thing,” she added while explaining the inspiration behind her outfit.

Richardson is yet to start her 2025 track season although she is expected back soon as she looks to defend her world title in Tokyo in September.
