Former Olympics 800m champion Athing Mu has finally opened up about her wedding following a secret marriage ceremony conducted four months ago.

American track queen Athing Mu has opened up about her wedding that took place four months ago.

Mu walked down the aisle in a secret wedding ceremony in March but kept everything under wraps until this month when she spoke about her marriage for the first time.

The 23-year-old had pulled all stops to keep her private life secret with details and identity of her Prince Charming not provided until it later emerged that it is Russian athlete Yegor Nikolayev who stole her heart.

“Oh, what a blessing it is to be in a covenant with you and the Lord. I pray that through all of our days we reflect the grace and mercy of Jesus! est. March 8, 2025,” Mu posted on Instagram while thanking all the service providers that made the wedding a success.

Nikolayev was born on April 28, 1988 in Yekaterinburg, Russia and is a former Russian middle-distance runner, who has featured in 1,500m, 3,000m and 5,000m, and represented his country in 1,500m at the 2012 London Olympics.

His biggest achievement on track is second place at the 2011 European Team Championships in 3,000m.

Having settled into marriage life, Mu has been rebuilding her athletics career that was decimated by injuries last year with misfortune also striking when she missed out on a Paris 2024 Olympics ticket after a fall on her way to winning the 800m race at the US Olympics trials.

She ran her first 800m race since that tearful day at the Prefontaine Classic on Saturday but did not fare well as she finished a disappointing 10th.
