Kenyan sensation Aldrine Kibet scored his third goal in his last three games for Celta Vigo U19 as he inspired them to the Spanish U19 King’s Cup semi-finals on Wednesday.

Kibet delivered the decisive blow after Celta Vigo had been pegged back by Athletic Club when Danel Narvarte scored in the 26th minute to give the Basque side an early lead.

However, it took Kibet 10 minutes to level matters with a well-taken goal and they continued pushing for the winner soon after.

Kibet With Lovely Assist

It was not until the 68th minute that the Kenyan star played a major part in the second goal. Against the run of play, the former St Anthony’s Boys Kitale midfielder delivered a great assist to Angel Davila Outerelo with the outside of his boot, sparking wild celebrations from the players.

The Harambee Stars playmaker would be taken off two minutes from time but he had already made his mark as his side went on to win 2-1 and book a place in the cup semi-final.

Kibet’s impressive performance comes days after he scored two goals in four minutes when Celta U19 thrashed SD Compostela 3-0 early this month, having also scored in his team’s 4-3 victory over Atletico Madrid and book a place in the quarter-final of the Kings Cup late last month.

Good News for Benni McCarthy?

The 19-year-old is enjoying a great run in front of goal and looks to have settled in at Celta following his historic transfer from Tarragona-based Nastic Academy last July.

His scoring prowess is great news for Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy, who handed him his maiden senior team call-up last November, ahead of friendly matches against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal.

Kibet is among breakout stars who could play a key role for Kenya at the 2027 Africa Cup pf Nations.
