Legendary Harambee Stars defender Musa Otieno has given reasons why he feels Kenya can become CHAN 2024 champions.

Former Harambee Stars captain Musa Otieno is backing Harambee Stars to go all the way and lift the 2024 African Nations Championships (CHAN 2024) trophy.

Harambee Stars are preparing for their second match against Angola on Thursday and are full of confidence after Austin Odhiambo’s goal gave them a morale-boosting 1-0 victory in their first game against DR Congo.

It was a major test for Benni McCarthy’s men but they passed it after overcoming some nervous moments early in the game to secure all three points against the Leopards.

It is from that result that Otieno, the longest-serving Harambee Stars captain, feels Kenya overcame their biggest hurdle and are now capable of going as far as possible, and even win the competition.

What is Giving Musa Otieno Confidence?

“It was a big day for us Kenyans and even the boys because it was not easy for them mentally as it was the first match and it is a CHAN tournament,” Otieno told NTV.

“But they gave their best and all that is victory because in competition, the first match is very important and they won. Now, I know in the next game, they have given fans motivation.

“Everyone wants to come to the stadium and when the players see everyone behind them, they are motivated and the same for everyone else,” added the legendary defender, who won 90 caps for Kenya, the most in the country.

Harambee Stars face another test on Thursday night as Angola come into the match looking to bounce back from their opening day loss to Morocco on Sunday.

The COSAFA Cup winners have previously played Kenya twice, winning 1-0, while Harambee Stars beat them 2-1 in the corresponding fixture.
