The former Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder was named in the provisional squad ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Ben Stanley Omondi has also been named in the final Harambee Stars squad that will be in action in the CECAFA tournament in preparation for CHAN.

He disclosed that getting a nod from Benni McCarthy is proof that he has put in the work and is privileged to be among those chosen.

“Working with a legend like Benni McCarthy is a nice feeling. Of course, when he makes good comments, it’s motivating,” Ben Stanley Omondi told FKF Media.

“After training, we always get to talk, and since he has been a player before, he watches the game on a different level. It’s good for us to get his experience and correction.”

He added that being named in the Harambee Stars squad has given him the confidence needed, hinting that next season, he will be ready to make an impact for Gor Mahia and help them reclaim the league title.

“It makes me feel good as a player, I feel motivated, and the mood in the camp is positive. It gives me the confidence I need and an easy way for me to express myself in the field because not everyone has the opportunity to be in the club,” he added.

Ben Stanley Omondi’s experience under Benni McCarthy has not only boosted his confidence but also deepened his appreciation for the game, as he looks forward to making a greater impact for both club and country.
