A harrowing chapter in Yoane Wissa’s life has come to a close after a French court handed an 18-year prison sentence to the woman who assaulted the Brentford star and attempted to kidnap his child.

Wissa suffers horrific attack
The terrifying incident occurred on July 1, 2021, when Wissa was still playing for Ligue 1 side Lorient in France’s Ligue 1.

The assailant, pretending to be pregnant and claiming her daughter was hospitalised, gained access to Wissa’s home.
Once inside, she attempted to kidnap Wissa’s infant daughter and threw acid on the footballer’s face, causing severe injuries that required emergency eye surgery.

The next day, the same woman assaulted another victim with acid. Authorities quickly identified and arrested her on July 3, 2021.
During the trial, she initially denied the allegations but later admitted to some of her actions, revealing a history of hearing "inner voices" since her teenage years. Despite facing a potential life sentence, she received an 18-year term.

Following the attack, Wissa showed incredible resilience, not only recovering from his injuries but also thriving in his professional football career.
