A Galatasaray star gave his opinion on the Victor Osimhen transfer situation.

Galatasaray midfielder Mario Lemina has weighed in on Victor Osimhen’s transfer situation, providing an opinion as a teammate.

The 31-year-old Lemina has been a transformative signing since joining the club in the winter transfer window. This is his second stint at the club, first joining via a brief loan spell in the 2019/20 season.

Osimhen: Stay or leave?

Galatasaray have a clear transfer plan in the summer: do everything possible to sign Victor Osimhen. There are two main obstacles to that plan, however: the finances and the player’s desire.

He has a €75 million release clause, but as Pulse Sports reported, Galatasaray believe they can offer Napoli a player, Baris Alper Yilmaz, and some cash.

This leaves the second obstacle, Osimhen’s ambition. While the Nigerian has fallen in love with Galatasaray and her fans, he still harbours a desire to play for the bigger European clubs and could, hence, choose to leave the club, regardless of their ability to reach an agreement with Napoli.

Osimhen continued his fine form.

What Lemina said

The Gabonese midfielder was recently asked about the Osimhen situation today, and he gave a considered response, stating that the decision was ultimately the Nigerian’s and must be respected.

“First of all, I can say that I have a very good relationship with Victor, as with all my teammates. He is one of the best forwards in the world,” Lemina said, per NTVSpor. “We are moving towards our goals. Galatasaray will want him to stay, but it is his decision; we have to respect it."

Lemina’s sentiments were also, in part, echoed by Ahmet Cekar, who believes that Osimhen will leave Galatasaray this summer, and he urged fans of the Cim-Bom to be understanding when he decides to leave and respect his choice.
