Leopards blew a 1-0 advantage to lose 2-1 to Nairobi City Stars thanks to a Kevin Etemesi brace.

AFC Leopards head coach Partick Aussems has berated his side’s carelessness at the back following his side’s loss to struggling Nairobi City Stars at the Nyayo National Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Leopards went ahead through Victor Omune but were punished through two typical Kevin Etemesi finishes to add more mystery to an already disappointing season.

“We played a team that was motivated triple amounts of time because they are fighting relegation,” he said, “Our motivation since the cup exit has been less so we saw it especially at the end of the game,” he added.

“We had an average first half but we were even poorer in the second half. We allowed them back into the game, but I would call it a normal first half,”

Ausemms has also criticised his team for a lack of motivation, after it was clear they had nothing to play for anymore following their Mozzart Bet Cup exit at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz last week but-one.

“We put all our chances in the cup and got knocked out with defensive mistakes. We made the same mistakes again making childish mistakes in our own box.

“You need to be aggressive in both boxes both offensively and defensively and we were not there today defensively, We are not aggressive enough and when it is time to clear, we do not clear very well.”

Leopards are seventh in the league standings on 45 points with three matches left to play this season.
