Despite signing a two-year contract in September to lead the USMNT at the 2026 World Cup, Pochettino's name has been circulating as a potential replacement for Postecoglou.

Following the USMNT's 2-1 friendly defeat to Turkey on Saturday, Pochettino addressed the speculation in his post-match press conference, downplaying the rumors.

"My name seems to appear on the list every time the Tottenham manager position is open," Pochettino remarked asquoted by AFP.

"There are probably 100 coaches on that list. Don't worry about it."

Pochettino Leaves Door Open For Spurs Return

While Pochettino has previously expressed his fondness for Spurs and hasn't ruled out a future return, he indicated that the timing isn't right.

"If something were to happen, you'll certainly know. But right now, it's not real. It's not realistic. Look at where I am, where we are. We're talking about it because Tottenham is my club, like Newell's Old Boys or Espanyol," he stated.

Postecoglou's dismissal came just 16 days after he led Tottenham to their first trophy in 17 years, winning the Europa League with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United. This victory also secured Tottenham a place in next season's Champions League.

However, Postecoglou's success in Europe couldn't overshadow Tottenham's dismal domestic performance, their worst since being relegated in the 1976-77 season.

The USMNT's loss to Turkey marks their third consecutive defeat, following losses to Panama and Canada in the CONCACAF Nations League in March.
