Tusker coach Charles Okere has named one area that his team must strengthen next season after coming close to winning the title before missing out last season.

Tusker FC coach Charles Okere is already taking stock of their 2024-25 season that started with so much promise but ended in disappointing fashion.

Tusker were among the teams that had a great start to the season as they ended the first half of the campaign among the leading title challengers but the second round saw the excitement die down after a poor run kicked in.

The brewers missed countless chances to take a giant step towards FKF Premier League title glory and ended up finishing third with 57 points, eight behind champions Kenya Police.

Okere accepts this was not part of the script that his team had written so well in the opening months of the season but has blamed it on the injury to striker Rayan Ogam, who was the leading scorer in the league, before his setback in February.

"When Ryan (Ogam) was ruled out with injury, we really struggled to score goals this past season," Okere admitted to Telecomasia.net.

Determined to avoid a repeat, Okere is in the market for new strikers that will share the goal scoring burden with Ogam, or perhaps even take over from the 15-goal forward, whose future is also uncertain at the club.

"It (Ogam’s injury) showed us that this is an area we really need to invest in. We have already started talks with some of the targets we have identified and we want to bring in players who can give us at least 10 and above goals each season," he added.

"If we were sharp offensively, I believe we would have been fighting for the league title till the last day and probably won. The forward line has been our biggest letdown especially in the second leg."

Ogam was out for four months following a knee injury that needed surgery and his absence coincided with Tusker’s drop in form as the team struggled for consistency and scoring goals in his absence.
