England coach Thomas Tuchel has issued a stark warning to Trent Alexander-Arnold after national team call-up.

England coach Thomas Tuchel has placed Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold under the microscope, citing the fullback’s defensive fragility as a major concern ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Senegal.

Although the Liverpool star is widely lauded for his exceptional creativity and attacking prowess, Tuchel did not mince words when he warned that such strengths must be balanced with defensive discipline.

Defensive Weaknesses Could Cost England Dearly

Despite being named in the current squad after missing the March camp due to injury, Alexander-Arnold is far from guaranteed a starting spot under the German tactician, who emphasized that national success hinges on complete performances from every player.

"I can see that sometimes he relies heavily on his offensive contributions, and gives not so much emphasis on the defensive discipline and effort," said Tuchel via Sky Sports.

"This major impact that he had for Liverpool over so many years, if he wants to have this impact in the English national team, then he has to take the defensive part very seriously."

"Because when we are talking, especially, about qualifying football and then tournament football, the one defensive error, the one moment where you are not 100 per cent awake, can be decisive, can be the moment where you pack your suitcases and go home," he added.

Alexander-Arnold’s looming transfer to Real Madrid is one of the most anticipated moves of the summer, and while it affirms his status as a world-class talent, it also raises the stakes for his national team contributions.

The coach has already held discussions with Alexander-Arnold and is using the upcoming training period to evaluate whether the fullback can adapt to the demands of tournament football.

"Now is the moment to get to know him. I know him. I played against him. I had phone calls with him," explained Tuchel.

"But now is the moment to feel him for nine or 10 days, feel him around the squad, see what he can do, what he can bring, and then from there we go."

As England sets its sights on global success, the spotlight on Alexander-Arnold is only intensifying, both as a future Galactico and a key figure who must prove his worth defensively to wear the Three Lions jersey with confidence.
