Emerson Royal picked up a knee injury during Brazil’s loss to Morocco in an international friendly game and he is set to miss the remainder of the season.

A number of players, including the Brazilian defender who is scheduled for knee surgery, will miss Tottenham's first game under the interim coach as they continue to accumulate injuries with the full-back expected to be sidelined for six weeks.

Emerson, who joined Tottenham from Barcelona, have been an integral part of Antonio Conte's team before he was sacked yesterday.

Emerson Royal to go under the knife

With the Premier League set to end on May 28, Emerson will find it hard to return back to the field before the season ends. He is set to undergo surgery on Tuesday which will keep him out of action for Spurs this season.

This injury comes as a setback for Tottenham and Cristian Stellini, who was recently appointed as temporary head coach on Sunday night after Antonio Conte was officially let go by the club.

In the thrilling 3-3 draw against Southampton on March 18, both Ben Davies and Richarlison had muscle pain, and the Wales defender is now sidelined until May due to a hamstring ailment.

Richarlison is also set to miss a trip to Goodison Park through injury even if it is not as serious as others and is expected to return later in April. Ryan Sessegnon, a wingback, is also receiving therapy and is almost ready to play against Everton.

Having played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Ipswich last Thursday following a knee injury, captain Hugo Lloris might be available for Tottenham's first game under a new manager. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur (knee) and Yves Bissouma (ankle) continue to be sidelined for a while as Tottenham looks to cap off a wild season by qualifying for the Champions League.
